SODA ASH – High-Purity Alkalinity Agent for Drilling Fluids
Description
SODA ASH is a high-purity, granular form of sodium carbonate used to adjust and stabilize pH levels in water-based drilling fluids. It effectively treats hardness caused by calcium and magnesium ions, improving the performance of bentonite and polymer additives. SODA ASH is essential for preparing fresh water systems and optimizing fluid rheology in various drilling environments.
Features
- pH Adjustment: Raises pH to optimal levels for drilling fluid performance.
- Hardness Control: Precipitates calcium and magnesium ions to soften water.
- Improved Yield: Enhances hydration and dispersion of bentonite and polymers.
- Versatile Use: Effective in fresh water, brines, and other water-based systems.
- Easy Application: Rapidly dissolves and mixes with minimal agitation.
- Environmentally Safe: Non-toxic and safe for use in environmentally sensitive areas.
Usage
SODA ASH should be added to the makeup water before introducing bentonite or polymer additives.
Typical dosage:
- Soft Water: 0.1 – 0.25 lb per 100 gallons
- Hard Water: 0.25 – 0.5 lb per 100 gallons
Adjust based on water analysis and desired pH level (target pH: 8.5 – 9.5).
Packaging
Available in 50-lb bags and 2,000-lb bulk sacks.
Safety
Avoid inhalation of dust. Use appropriate PPE when handling. Refer to SDS for detailed safety and first aid information.
